WILLIAM PURVIANCE, Dead at 75-----Scio---William J. Purviance, 75, of Main Street, who with his wife owned Purviance Funeral Home and Purviance Furniture Store for the past 48 years, died June 16, 1993, in Aultman Hospital, Canton. Mr. Purviance also operated an ambulance service from 1946 to 1972. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War 11 and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association; Ohio Funeral Directors Association; Ohio Embalmers Association, Scio United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 587, Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenvile; American Legion Post 482, Jewett Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3072, and Scio Civic Club. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Onslow Purviance, whom he married September 24, 1943; two daughters Penny Purviance of Columbus, and Mrs. Roy (Peggy) Hilliard of Camp Hill, Pa; one grandson. He was born February 19, 1918, in Jewett, son of the late Arthur and Grace Johnson Purviance. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at Purviance Funeral Home, funeral services there at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev.
