THOMAS W. PURVIANCE, Retired Banker is Dead: Carrollton--Retired banker Thomas W. Purviance, who was the executive vice president of the former First National Bank, died in his home Thursday morning after a lengthy illness. He was 84. Mr. Purviance, a resident of 4144 Salineville Road, retired in 1969 after fifty years of banking service. A World War 1 Army Vetern, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Alliance Commandery 67, Alliance Masonic Lodge, F&AM, and the Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland. In addition , Mr Purviance was the past patron of the chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are his wife Ruth Foust Purviance, a daughter Meredith White of Youngstown, and a sister Hannah Hoover of Germantown, Wisc. He was born October 5, 1897, in Smithfield, a son of the late Charles and Alice Keller Purviance. Friends may call at the Allimon Dugger Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 today, services there Saturday at 11 a.m. the Rev. William Ury in charge with burial in Grandview Cemetery.
