MRS. NANCY FLEMING CRAIG, died at the residence of her son in Toledo Wednesday, February 7th, and was buried at Newcomerstown the following Friday. Mrs. Craig was born at Smithfield, March 13th, 1813, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Fleming, pioneer settlers of that place. When nineteen years old she was married to Wm. H. Craig, a son of Rowland Craig of Cadiz, and soon after they removed to Hebron, Licking County, but subsequently settled at Newcomerstown when Mr. Craig engaged in mercantile business, and where his remaining days were spent. He died in 1879, Mrs. Craig continuing at the old homestead until about two years ago, when loss of sight and other infirmaties of age compelled her to relinquish the active life of housekeeping, and she found a pleasant home with her son. She was for sixty years a member of the Presbyterian church and was a Christian wife and mother. Of seven children but one son, Thomas F. of Toledo, survives, and David Fleming of Philadelphia, is now the sole survivor of the family of which she was a member. The recently deceased Misses Fleming of Wellsburg, were her sisters and Roland Craig of Wellsburg, is a nephew.
