MARTHA HEIGHTLAND, 53, of Scio died Tuesday in the Timken Mercy Medical Center in Canton. She was a member of the Scio American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are her father, John C. Townsend of Edgewater, Fla.; a son, John R. Hightland of Salem; two daughters, Beverly Mumbower of Fort Scott, Kan. and Debra Hightland of Edgewater; five brothers, John and Bill Townsend, both of Edgewater, Ross Townsend of Mingo Junction, Tom Townsend of Follansbee and Lincoln Townsend of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Ruth Townsend of Russellville, Ala.; and four grandchildren. She was born Feb. 23, 1931 in Steubenville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Chase Townsend; and her husband, E. Eugene Hightland, in 1960.
