MRS. MARY HAZLET, one of the pioneer women of this county, born in Island Creek township in 1798, passed peacefully away at the residence of her niece, in Bellefountaine, O., on Monday, April 15th at the ripe age of 91 years. She was a woman of great force of character and sterling integrity, combined with christian graces of mind and heart, and in the by-gone days of slavery helped many a fugitive through the underground railway in their flight for freedom. She was the eldest sister of Johnson Orr of this city, and aunt of J. J. Porter, of Pittsburgh.
