MRS. MARY E. PURVIANCE, 88, formerly of Steubenville, died Tuesday morning in the Wesley Glenn Retirement Center, Worthington. She was a former teacher in the London school system, London, Ohio , and a member of the West Jefferson United Methodist Church, Madison County Historical Society and Madison County Farmer's Club. Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Chester (Dorothey) Morgan of North Royalton, and Mrs. Thomas (Lucile) McClelland of Columbus, two sisters, Mrs. Wanna Darling of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Geneva Shelly of Greencastle Pa, a brother Graham Lewis of London, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Purviance was born September 22, 1890 in Madison County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Lane Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar P. Purviance in 1963.
