JOHN BURNS, one of the older residents of Steubenville, passed away at his home, corner Seventh and North streets on Monday at 5:30 p.m. aged 87 years on November 17th, 1912. He had been in poor health through the winter and on Monday of last week he was seized with paralysis. From that time till his death he was partially concious, but grew weaker each day. He was born in County Galway, Ireland and he came to Baltimore in 1851 and worked for a time on the B & O R. R. Ine came to Steubenville and he was employed on the Steubenville & Indiana railroad, and the Pan Handle railroad till fifteen years ago when he retired. His wife, who was Catherine Donehow, died 12 years ago. Three daughters survive, Mrs. Patrick Moran, Margaret and Catherine at home. He was a devoted member of St. Peter's church. He was the last member of a large family. He was frugal and industrious and respected as a citizen.
