MRS. EMMA SPRIGGS, Emma, wife of J.W. Spriggs, died Saturday morning at the family residence, corner of Seventh and Washington, aged 52 years. Her maiden name was Welch and she was born in Philadelphia. Her mother, Mrs. Annie Welch, lived in this city when the deceased was married to Mr Spriggs in 1871. The following children survive: Mary, wife of Fred Crouch; Annie, wife of George W McLeish, Charles, ALice, wife of Silas Yocum Jr, Edward and Mary at home. One brother John Welch, of this city, and a sister Mrs. Annie Bucey of Richmond survive. She had been ill for six months with cancer...Mrs. Spriggs was first married in June 1861 to Calvin Cody.
