MRS. ALICE PURVIANCE, Summoned by Death: Mrs. Alice Purviance died at her home at 767 North Eight Street, Steubenville, Ohio, on Sunday, at 1:50 p.m. She had been ill since February 5th. She was born on February 5, 1861 at historic New Rumley and was 83 years of age on February 5th. She was the daughter of Alpheus and Matilda Gotschall Lowmiller, members of pioneer and influential families of that section. Her husband Thomas H. Purviance, son of Dr. Thomas Harlan Purviance died in 1925. These children survive: Mrs Lila Phillipson at Bloomingdale; Sally at Cleveland; Carroll in Los Angeles, California; Homer and Alice at home. These sisters and brothers: Mrs Verna Reed at Canton; Mrs. Hal Barkhurst at Jewett; Homer at Mountain View, California; four grandchildren: James, Alice and Mathielde Angel; Roland Phillipson, a great grandaughter Alice Joan Phillipson. There have been three deaths in her family in three weeks, the other two being Mrs. A.E. Angel, and Mrs. R.E. Inman, both daughters. She was a member of the Congregational Church and the Woman's Relief Corps. An eminent christian woman and her death will be a matter of regret to many friends.
