Gideon Goodwin and family were in Mt. Pleasant, Jefferson, Ohio in the early 18920't. Two sons were with Gideon, Thomas and John, Asa came later. John Goodwin was the son of Gideon Goodwin and Rachael Pierce ans was born 9-18-1798 in Fredricks co., Va. Gideon was born in Chester Co., Pa and was born around 1779.John came with his father to Mt. Pleasant. Gideon was a Quaker and Mt. Pleasant welcomed the family. John and Gideon were in the tailoring business.
John married Elizabeth Crowley, and moved to Smithfield, Jeff. Co.
Ten children were born to this union.John then settled in York twsp and is > buried in updegraff. He was a justice of the peace for 16 years. I earlier sent Thomas Goodwin, and wife Mary Byrns. Could someone look and see if Gideon and Rachel are in Hicksite Quaker cemetery in Jeff Co?
