Ensign Cyrus Hunter

ENSIGN CYRUS HUNTER _________________ ENSIGN CYRUS HUNTER, the great-great grandfather of the late William C. Hunter of Steubenville, joined in the summer of 1781 a small expedition of Colonel Lochry's party for the purpose of joining General Clark in the reduction of Detroit. It went down the river in boats and shortly below the mouth of Big Miami, was attacked by Indians from the shore. Ensign Cyrus Hunter escaped with his life while the others in this party were killed, with those being captured that were scalped and killed while prisoners. Return to Family Tales Return to Home Page
