Beatty Armstrong:

Grandson of Charles Armstrong ,Island Creek , b. abt. 1763 Ireland d. Sept. 10, 1851 Jefferson Co. Ohio.

Father: Robert Armstrong b.Dec. 20, 1804 Island Creek Jefferson Co. Ohio

Mother: Ann Ekey, b. 1812 Jefferson Co. Ohio

Beatty Armstrong was born in Stubenville, Onio ,August !st, 1849, and died at his home in Lawrence, Ks, February 23rd, 1922 age 72 years six months and twenty- days. He was married to Mary McClung ,February 6, 1873,Senca Co. Ohio. To this union were born four children, two sons, Harley Armstrong and A. I. Armstrong, and two daughters, Mrs. Ethlyn Banks and Mrs. Edith Miller. They came to Kansas in 1878 and settled in the neighborhood of Kanwaka. He had a part in building up the great state of Kansas. In 1893 he was converted to the Christian faith durning a series of meetings held by T. D. Halbert and joined the United Brethren church, remaining an honored member until his death.

He leaves his wife, four children, twelve grandchildren, one great-grand child, and one brother, John G., Of Bowling Green, Ohio, who was 78 years old the day father Armstrong passed away, to mourn his departure.

"What is death to him who meets it with an upright heart? A quiet haven where his shattered bark harbours secure till the rough storm is passed. Perchance a passage overhung with clouds. But at the entrance a few leagues beyond, opeing to kinder skies and milder suns and seas as pacific as the soul that seeks them."
